How long does it take to get used to glasses

I know what you're thinking: "this is so WEIRD. It feels so strange having these on my face and my eyes aren't adjusting well." You might even be feeling a little embarrassed or ashamed. Don't worry, it's normal to feel that way when you first get glasses! It takes about six weeks for your eyesight to adjust to the change in prescription. So don't worry if everything is blurry now – it will start getting better soon!

In this blog post we'll how long it takes for your eyesight to adjust after wearing glasses, what should you should do if my vision is still bad after the adjustment period has passed, and more. Let's jump right into our discussion with some tips on how to make these first few weeks easier so you

Letting your eyes adjust

Your body needs a few days to get used to your new prescription or eyeglasses. It can take up to two weeks for you eyes and brain, to adjust fully when increasing prescriptions or wearing glasses for the first time.

Adjusting to the sudden change from not wearing any lens correction at all is just as difficult as it was when they were prescribed that day — if not worse because now there are two things vying for their attention: both what's going on around them and how clear objects appear through their lenses.

Try not to take them off and let your body get used to this new variable. After all, things should be much clearer than before! Maybe go to a museum or pick up one of those where's waldo books so you can enjoy actually being able to see!!

Headaches & Dizziness

A common symptom of getting a new pair of glasses or prescription are headaches. This should only last a day or so, so make sure to take some aspirin and drink plenty of water until this period goes away (trust us, it will!)

If you are feeling a bit of vertigo or dizziness, that's also completely natural. If this persists, go back to your optometrist so you can make the adjustments necessary. Once again, make sure to give it a couple of days to make sure this is an actual issue.

Persistent Blurry Vision or Discomfort

If after about 2-3 days your vision is not clear or your experiencing discomfort with your frames, this is when you should give your optometrist a call to get your issues fixed.

We hope this blog helped you with your new pair of glasses! Welcome to the club!!!
